Our Star Barn is snuggly located within the Dark Sky Park. Therefore, we can guarantee you’ll witness Northumberland’s stunning dark skies without passing cars or light pollution. We work with Newcastle University and Northumberland National Park on Dark Sky education, ensuring future generations can witness the stars. This initiative began in 2023 for Northumberland International Dark Sky Park’s 10th anniversary and continues into 2024.
Beautifully renovated with modern features, our historic barn complements the surrounding countryside. The ground floor has a cosy, open-plan lounge, dining kitchen, shower room, and toilet. Additionally, the first floor contains a luxurious super-king bed (convertible into two singles on request). There is an extra living area with guest beds available for children for a small fee of £75.
Despite its rural setting, the Star Barn offers many exclusive activities. Guests can enjoy e-bike hire, art classes, yoga sessions, and our award-winning Ingram Valley Farm Safari.
However, if these activities don’t appeal, you can explore the many walking routes through the surrounding Breamish Valley. Our farm is a 25-minute drive from the town of Alnwick and less than an hour from Bamburgh and Berwick-Upon-Tweed. You can explore all the must-see sites of Northumberland right on your doorstep.
Our countryside cottage is designed to enhance your stargazing experience. With skylights and a small courtyard, it is the perfect spot to observe the stars. During your stay, you can hire an array of stargazing equipment including telescopes, space torches, star charts, deck chairs, outdoor cinema equipment and live star data. We want you to get the most out of your time on our farm, especially if you stay in our Astro Star Barn!
Additionally, the farm also offers many stargazing experiences and events. We adapt our events to the season, running Winter Dark Sky Events, and Summer Solar Astronomy Events with Dr Adrian Janetta (Fellow of The Royal Astronomical Society). Guests can experience the magic of the Dark Sky Park and learn about constellations through guided star-gazing sessions, ideal for birthdays or anniversaries.
